At Kawauso Karate, our commitment to quality training and community support sets us apart. Here are a few reasons why our students thrive here.
I can’t recommend Kawauso highly enough. From day one, our whole family has felt genuinely welcomed. What started with our son has turned into all of us getting involved—our daughter in the tots class with the wonderful Sensei Mel, and even me joining the adult sessions. Sensei Mark is an incredible teacher, and it really shows in how much the students grow and thrive. Our eldest has gained focus, confidence, and skills he’s even taken into national competitions. What really stands out is the supportive, respectful atmosphere—everyone looks out for each other, and it truly feels like one big family. The coaches are experienced, patient, and encouraging, and it makes all the difference. There’s nowhere else we’d rather train—give it a try and you’ll quickly see why!
We were recommended Mark's classes after my little boy had shown an interest at starting Karate 🥋 but had a bad experience elsewhere... I reached out to Mark and he was really quick to reply even though he was actually out of the country competing, he answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. My little boy loved that he was given a proper introduction on his first session and was loaned a Karate suit & belt to wear so he matched everyone else. It was also nice to be informed of club expectations and rules before we attended too. The sessions he has attended so far are brilliant. They cater to complete beginners and for his age group. He has had a taste of trying different things already from breaking boards to using the kick master. Mark takes his time ensuring each child understands what they should be doing and how they should be doing it. My little one is already eager to join one of the competitions! I'm already really grateful to have found Mark's lessons and would recommend them to anyone!
I cannot recommend this club highly enough, my little boy started as a tiny little 3 year old with the tots class, the confidence he has gained is unbelievable! Initially starting the class he didnt enjoy big groups, now he’s progressed to being able to join in confidently and partake in many a challenge! From grading in which he’s absolutely smashing through with guidance of the incredible instructors to stepping up in club competitions on his own in front of groups of people. Both Mel & Mark are fantastic with tailoring classes to suit the children. The last few years have been amazing and we cant wait to see where his love for Kawauso karate will take him.
Incredible club. My boy absolutely loves coming to training and the instructors are absolutely amazing at what they do. Lovely people and great with all abilities and ages. Amazing environment to be in. If your kids want to start karate i'd 1000% recommend this club.
We honestly couldn’t be happier with Kawauso Karate. It’s taken 10 years for my son to finally find a hobby he truly loves, and from the very first session here he was hooked. The difference in his confidence already has been amazing to see. Mark is such a brilliant instructor. He’s fantastic with all the children and really understands how to work with each child individually, helping them grow at their own pace and ability. It’s clear he genuinely cares. My son also really looks up to Jake, who helps out in the classes. He’s always patient, encouraging and happy to help him improve, which means a lot. The competitions the club runs are always so well organised — you can see how much hard work goes on behind the scenes. It’s such a supportive, positive environment and we’re so glad we found it.
